Rounding Up in The Big Easy!😉

Well y’all it looks like we’ve reached the finish line for the academic year of 2019 Pharm class. As we wrap up this month with finals in last parts of projects it’s comes to a bittersweet end today..It seems like just yesterday I was telling y’all about my adjusting to NOLA city living.Bittersweet because the overwhelming study cloud that loomed over me all the time this year has lifted but what now? Now we face yet another transition so soon just after getting familiar with the relatively new transition of moving to NOLA. I have to say how ecstatic I am at my peers and I futures.I have come to know some great individuals and I will treasure the moments that we shared to get to this point. This program has challenged me mentally and academically. As a budding scientist and personally, I have grown to new heights. This month I had the opportunity to serve with NOLA Stem community focusing on the science of force. Working with kids always gives me a boost personally, so this experience was just in time to keep my woes of missing “my kiddies” from back home in check. I also was able to maintain working relationships with Goldring and KiPP!  This month has been full of experiences and now that I think about it, it’s really a great way to round out the school year! I’ll be honest, I’m tearing as I write this blog, as I’m so moved from all the experiences I’ve encountered in NOLA. I’ve grown tremendously and more importantly I’ve proved to any shadow of a doubt that lured in the back of my head back in August when we started that I MADE IT! I CAN DO THIS! Sometimes I got caught up in my head but strengthening my skills of time management, applying myself daily, aligning priorities with studying and maximizing balance. Not to mention a lot of prayer/meditating and breathing lol can’t forget the breathing part 😂. I’m so grateful for this experience and honestly I’m inspired to rise and keep rising above the bar I set for myself on each occasion. Well y’all, it’s been real.. Til next time.. Be Easy!

Hey Y'all. Wow. October has come and just like that we are here at the end. The month of October has been accompanied with a few final adjustments and an increased sense of ease getting around NOLA. I like to think I have gotten used to the climate and time difference but let me get back to you guys about that next month. 😂 Studies have been intense but manageable. My time management is still a challenge but I think it is getting better everyday. A few times this month I tried some new vegan dishes and they were absolutely tasty. Ms. Beasley’s food truck is my current favorite. I didn't get very much volunteering in this month, although I did reach out to a few organizations that I am interested in serving with in the in next few months. I must say that I am looking forward to getting out and getting my hands dirty while getting to know my neighbors and their families through community service. Well hello there everyone!! It’s the holiday season and we are fast tracking it to the very end of the semester. I can l finally say that I am acclimated to the academia in my program and NOLA living. I must say that I have worked equally as hard and enjoyed every moment of this month. I’ve gotten in to some new areas of service with Kipp Leadership as well Edible Schoolyard New Orleans in addition to continuing to serve at Goldring kitchen.The Edible Schoolyard is truly a treat. It is a beautiful garden of vast veggies and herbs planted/maintained by the students..I handpicked fresh basil from that very garden to prepare the basil water for the 20th anniversary celebration. The experiences at KIPP have been just as exciting. The staff is so welcoming and  grateful for your presence. January 2019

Hi Guys! Happy 2019!!! Can’t believe that we’re already in February of this new year..January has come and gone. Whew...Where do I start? ok so I’ll try to establish a timeline here as things have gone quite fast. First, let’s back track to December. There was plenty of festive cheer around the city. We had a holiday party leading up to our final. So one can imagine the excitement of holiday break being welcomed after the whirlwind of holiday dinners, finals, and papers. We had two weeks to recharge by spending time with our families and....Bam!!! We’re back like we never left. The consensus from the student perspective is the comeback from break is a challenge because you have to get over the challenge of re-establishing your footing back into the regular routine of all things academia and life.
