January 2019

Hi Guys! Happy 2019!!! Can’t believe that we’re already in February of this new year..January has come and gone. Whew...Where do I start? ok so I’ll try to establish a timeline here as things have gone quite fast. First, let’s back track to December. There was plenty of festive cheer around the city. We had a holiday party leading up to our final. So one can imagine the excitement of holiday break being welcomed after the whirlwind of holiday dinners, finals, and papers. We had two weeks to recharge by spending time with our families and....Bam!!! We’re back like we never left. The consensus from the student perspective is the comeback from break is a challenge because you have to get over the challenge of re-establishing your footing back into the regular routine of all things academia and life. Let’s just say it’s been a slippery slope in these NOLA streets this January.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰Not to worry though, no falls have taken place! Since being back in the city, it’s been plenty busy. I’ve managed to volunteer with my KIPP family a couple times this month. I’m kinda sad to say its been less than expected as I’ve had to spend more time organizing my schedule, since we have a lot more content this semester as we prepared for the Shelf Exam in March. The silver lining of this is the subjects in all the blocks content spillover into one another. I think it’s quite interesting how the science is so complex yet comprehensive across the different disciplines. To be honest, the overflow reinforces the details of the big picture for me. I think this overflow is conceptually brilliant and should be quite beneficial as we concurrently study for the upcoming shelf exam and block exams for sure! So thank you to my program director and team for the coordination! On another note, I do hope to get back to the schoolyard garden  and he culinary center as we approach the warmer months. From what I hear, parade season is on the horizon. Definitely something I look forward to experiencing. Until then, I’ll keep trying to keep my balance on the slippery slopes juggling academia and life NOLA!πŸ˜‚Welp back to the books I go.. Until next time folks.. Be Easy!
