Black History Month-In the BigEasy

Hello there y’all! Can you believe we’re already heading into the 3rd month of 2019?!? Insane right! Just like that we are here at the door step of the shelf exam. Whew, this Black History Month was pretty swift 🀯. However, there were some staple moments in there for me this month with volunteering at KIPP, Neuropharm, Endocrine Pharm presentations and exams.  Both presentations challenged me on a whole new level academically and personally. To be quite honest, the experience was much appreciated. However some NOLA fun has been sprinkled in there here and there. The city is getting ready for Mardi Gras which is interesting. The buzzing anticipation of the city’s yearly tradition is something to look forward to. One thing for sure is, I hope the parade festivities live up to the hype that I’ve heard because Black History Month 2019 definitely goes down as one in the books. At Kipp the classroom doors were decorated by each grade level to highlight students favorite black pioneers. So awesome to witness and be apart of such creative artistry where the kids ideas were celebrated. Check the pictures of a few of my personal faves I captured. Im sure it was hard to pick the winners. I also got to visit StudioBe where I experienced an eclectic and rich visual history of NOLA. The body of the collective art in that place was phenomenal! I closed out the month with an exam and attending a play put on by community kids reminding us why Black History is celebrated. They put on an awesome show filled with poems, monologues, and dancing for trailblazers such as Maya Angelou, Malcom X, Huey P Newton, Judith Jamison, President Barak Obama and so many more!  February has been refreshingly invigorating to say the least. I can’t wait to see what March has in store.. well other than shelf exam.πŸ€―πŸ˜† Until then.. Y’all be easy!
